Pruning fruit trees – the basics and get some practice

Pruning

Join us on Sun 4th September

Our next event will be held at Jindera on Sun 4th Sept, 1-4pm.

An afternoon to build your pruning skills and swap tips for fruit tree management.

Yes, it’s a little late in the season for fruit tree pruning, but it’s a job that can be forgotten. In Jane’s orchard, we’ll look at the key things to consider when pruning and have a go at putting it into practice. We’ll discuss general techniques for pruning different types of fruit trees and pruning for established trees (including those that might have been ‘let go’ in recent seasons).

This session is suitable for those looking to learn some basic skills and those with experience that they are willing to share with others. It will be informal and fun!

Bring your favourite pruning tips or sayings; the details of your favourite fruit tree reference materials; and/or gear for pruning – gloves, secateurs, appropriate clothing (gumboots might be the go!).
Also, bring a cup, your choice of drink and a plate of something to share if you like. Jane will put the kettle on!

Please note, you must RSVP by Thursday 1st Sept in order to obtain the address details for this event by emailing Jane: nekta-v@bigpond.net.au .
Jane and David’s place is about 10 mins drive north of Lavington, between Jindera and Table Top.

To avoid inadvertent spread of disease, if you bring your own secateurs or other tools please ensure you clean the blades beforehand (we’ll have some cleaning materials there too!).
