Our 2019 events listing
Keen to get some Seed Savers events and dates in your diary? Our steering group have assembled a calendar of events for this year. You can grab your copy by clicking to view it as a PDF.
As always, we’ll send more details about each event to members and those on our email list (join it here) in the lead up to individual events.
And we’ll let you know if we add any additional events, of course!
Along with lots of other local community groups and organisations we also list our events on the Ecoportal.net.au website.

A spring session all about seeds
Our next Seed Savers gathering is an opportunity to access the seed bank – just in time for spring planting! Plenty of enthusiastic, like-minded gardeners will be on hand to discuss problems and share hints. For those with seed from autumn seed saving, seed cleaning equipment will be available.
A chance for those who have never collected and cleaned seed to learn how to do it.
When: Wednesday 3rd October, 6pm – 7:30pm
Where: Sustainable Activity Centre, 1/44 Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga. Map.
At our next event: all about native plants and seeds.
Join Seed Savers Albury-Wodonga for a visit to Wirraminna to find out about their native seed production area and growing native plants in our region.
Where: Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre, Howlong Rd, Burrumbuttock.
When: Sat 25th August, 10am to 1pm
(but you’re welcome to stay longer or leave earlier if you wish)
Bring: attire to suit the weather; lunch and water bottle; gardening gloves if planning to help out.
Wirraminna is a 4 hectare former stock reserve, that has been developed and maintained by volunteers since 1995 to showcase native vegetation and wetlands on farms. It includes a large dam, wetlands, natural woodland and native garden beds. There’s also an education centre and lots of interpretative signs. Continue reading
Discount: just $15 for a household for a year; helps to support our activities
Big thanks to those who have renewed or taken out a new membership at recent events!
Our membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June, so it’s renewal time. We’re offering our usual incentive, where those joining or renewing by the end of August do so for just $15 per household. After August the price will return to $20 per household – so be sure to catch this “special”!
How: Complete the online membership form (to ensure we have your current details for insurance purposes) and indicate if you are either paying electronically or will bring cash to one of our gatherings. Easy!
Next gathering: Tues 17 July
It’s that time of year again already! We use our annual stocktake of the shared seed bank as a chance to see which seeds have been coming and going from our seed collection, as well as which ones we need to grow on to ensure they remain viable.
This year we’ll also be using this session as a way to ‘take stock’ of our group and activities. We’re keen to hear your thoughts for the direction of the group as well as what we get up to in the second half of this year. If you are keen to see us continue and thrive, please add your voice.
When: Tues 17th July, 6pm to 7:30pm
Where: Sustainable Activity Centre, Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga Continue reading
